I would like to point out that the biggest cost associated with ISDN
Internet service is the provider. While there are some "low-cost" ISPs,
the major providers are very expensive. Cerfnet's library rate is 250/mo
for 1B (56k) service and 375/mo for 2B (112k in California). Don't forget
that even as a local call, that $0.01 per minute per channel adds up.

Also keep in mind that ISDN, like its digital cousins switch 56, T-1 and
fractional T-1, frame relay, ATM and SMDS, is non-trivial to configure and
must have matching configurations on both ends. Unlike the current round
of modems, you cannot assume that just because you have a router or
terminal adaptor, CSU/DSU and an NT-1, that your equipment and software
will be compatible with what is on the other end. Even if your equipment
complies to a standard like V.35, it is no guarantee that your line
configuration and software will work with someone elses. The bottom line
is that you might very well have to pay your provider to spec and configure
your equipment and it probably wont be cheap.
