Recently, I received a terse note from a UCLA group regarding the use of
their URL as a link on a Spanish language resource page I created. Even
though I credited them as the creator and owner, they were angry that I had
not asked for permission. I removed them.
The next week I received a message from someone in Mexico who was
absolutely thrilled to see their URL on the resource page. Who can
figure? My advice is to create an e-mail form letter and send it off as
you create resource pages--especially if you see any copyright information
on the page. Put in the note that you are using their site on your page
and have them contact you if that is not to their liking. Add that unless
you receive notification otherwise...blah blah blah... I don't know if
using someone's URL is inviting litigation or not...What a drag tho' in
terms of workload.
