LIBRARY DIRECTOR
Belvedere and Tiburon, two suburban communities of 12,000 population just
north of San Francisco, have joined to build and equip a new 10,000 square
foot library.
Ground breaking will take place in April 1996 for the new building
designed by Bull, Stockwell, Allen and Ripley. Our library plan will
provide the warmth, welcome, efficiency and comfort of the best
traditional community libraries, the accessibility and vitality of an
active community center, combined with flexibility and easy access for all
aspects of modern information technology.
We are seeking a Library Director who is interested in the challenge of
taking responsibility for planning and operating a superior library.
Education and experience requirements are a Master's Degree in Library
Science from an ALA-accredited school and at least 5 years of verifiable
progressive library management experience.
A key to the Library Director's performance is the ability to work with
the Library Agency Board, hire and supervise professional and support
staff and work with a wide-ranging group of enthusiastic community
volunteers and patrons.
The new Library will open in Spring 1997. On July 1, 1996, the newly
formed Library Agency will assume responsibility for operating our
existing 3000 square foot Library. The new Director will be expected to
be in place by July 1 to administer the existing Library and plan and
execute the transition to the new Library.
The new Library will incorporate state-of-the-art technical capacity;
the Library Director will be expected to lead this effort.
Additional information and a detailed job description is available.
The salary range is $55,000 - $65,000, plus benefits.
