My experience with the LAPL and other libraries in the Southland shows a
predominance of Netscape 2.0.x, the current release version. I strongly
recommend that libraries and other public access points avoid beta software
of all types.

I think that it is unwise to draw any conclusions from the vicissitudes of
Netscape or Microsoft Betas in the area of memory requirements or anything
else. The release versions could and probably will be different. Having
said that, I do feel that 16 meg is now the floor memory spec for a web
access machine and, in a year or so, that will be 32. The upside is that a
32 meg simm can now be had for about $300.
