Subject: NCLIS
Yesterday, I made a ten minute presentation before the National Commission
on Libraries and Information Services. Thanks to everyone who responded to
my request for HELP! I will be printing your e-mail messages and attaching
them to my written testimony.
Anyway, the Commission was VERY interested in the Infopeople Project.
Several people mentioned Infopeople during their testimony and I pointed it
out as perhaps the best pilot project I had ever had the pleasure of
participating in and witnessing during my professional career. I will also
be attaching 15 of the Infopeople Brochures as part of my NCLIS package.
As you can imagine, there is great interest nationwide in developing methods
of implementing Internet access and training librarians to use it.
Infopeople stands out because it has provided ongoing training, a listserv
for interaction and immediate problem-solving, and a web site for long term
resource sharing. Good on ya!
