My 2 cents worth:

I run Netscape 3.0 Gold (at home) with Win 3.1 and 4Megs of RAM and a loaded
HDD. It is a bit slow due to swapping. I know more RAM will help.

I ran Netscape 2.02 and had DNS problems, etc. The upgrade was touted as a
fix for a number of bugs. I have also played around with "stacks" settings
and "async dns=no" in Netscape.ini file.

You may not "want" to get involved in javascript however, it is here to stay
and many web pages rely on it heavily.

I assume the 16mg requirement for 3b5 is the 32-bit Win95 application. This
will give you full Java (not the same as javascript).
