the last 2 months. GPFs don't kill you in WIN 95 so all you do is close
Netscape then restart it. The connection stays online. My GPFs were
mainly caused by the VRML plug-ins and the Adobe Acrobat plug-in. I have had
no lost connections during FTP. I would HIGHLY reccomend that you upgrade to
WIN 95 and get the 32 bit version of Netscape. Use the Dial-Up Networking
program that comes with WIN 95 as your dialer. WIN 95 apps are very STABLE.
My assistant has also been able to edit Netscape to eliminate almost all
security holes outlined in the "How to edit Netscape for Public Access" page
found at http://www.lib.berkeley.edu:8000/NS/index.html. The one hole we
can't fix is if the patron enters c:\ in the goto box - this gives the patron
access to the whole c drive. Kinda scary.
We are still testing the WINU menuing system in conjunction with RTV Reco and
the Robodun programs. I'll keep you posted on problems.
