If you are referring to HP 500 series printers, this is the death
rattle. You could have the printer rebuilt, but it would probably cost
more than it is worth. Cleaning the rollers will not really help
because the problem is the surface of the rollers. If you have a tech,
you might ask if an inexpensive replacemnt is available.

I will add that mine usually quit after about 60k pages.

If you have a different printer, all bets are off.
