Jackie Spafford

Jackie Spafford has been the curator of the Image Resource Center at UC Santa Barbara for over 12 years.  During that time she has overseen the collection in its transition from completely analog (380,000 35mm slides) to an active and multi-partnered digital endeavor.  She promotes image collection sharing as a win-win enterprise and is working to incorporate and build digital image collections at UCSB and beyond.

Before coming to UCSB she worked at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, initiating early versions of digital image archives for teaching and research.  She is active in the Visual Resources Association and Art Table and the Society of Architectural Historians’ SAHARA project, which promotes the building of a shared image collection through member contributions.
