  Internet Acess Is Available at the Orland Free Library

Our circulation system requires each reader to have a library card. You must have the library card with you in order to check out books. The check-out equipment prints the card number & the due date on the book card. No one can use your number unless you give them your library card. You will be liable for all books checked out on your number.

Do not throw away your library card when it expires. Bring the card to the library. We will update the card and renew it for a new 3 year period.

Children in first grade and older can have their own library cards. If you want, the library will keep on file cards of children in grades 1 through 6. 7th graders & older must be responsible for their own cards.

If your card is lost or stolen, report it to the library immediately. We will cancel the old number so that it can no longer be used. You can then apply for a replacement card with a new number.

The fee for the replacement of lost library cards is $3.00. A new library card will be issued 1 week after being requested. The library does not mail new cards. Books can not be checked out until the new card is issued.

Identification - a driver's license, student body card, Social Security card, etc.

Proof of Address - any piece of mail with your current address.

Local Reference - the name, address & phone of an Orland resident who does not live at your address & would know your new address if you moved.
 
 

If the book or information you want is not available in the Orland Free Library you can request that it be borrowed from another library. Ask the library staff for assistance.

Books & other library materials not returned on time are over-due and fines will be charged. Fines of .10 per day per item are charged. There is a maximum fine of $2.00 per item. Fines are not charged for week-ends or holidays. Fines are due only for days the library is open.

The library charges for lost & damaged materials. Charges for lost books are based on current prices & include a fee to cover replacement costs.

Anyone who has accumulated fines and/or charges of $5.00 or more may not check out anything until the fines are paid in full.

Interlibrary loan materials must be returned according to the requirements of the lending library. We cannot renew anything borrowed from another library.

The Orland Free Library is a member of the North State Cooperative Library System (NSCLS), a group of public & academic libraries in Northern California. Videocassettes, compact discs & audiocassettes are available from NSCLS. Ask the library staff to show you the catalogs & explain the services available from NSCLS.

Founded in 1982, the Friends of the Orland Library is a voluntary, nonprofit organization.  Alternate monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00am in the Carnegie Community Center.  Call the Orland Library for the current meeting schedule and location.

The Orland Free Library is participating in the InFoPeople Project, which is supported by the Library Services and Technology Act funding, administered by the California State Library.
