| 9:45-11:30 AM | Walkabout Experience What are the "new norms" for connecting with communities in ways that they value and appreciate? Using a Public Value Checklist and visiting a variety of locations nearby, conference participants will observe and record their perceptions of how public and private sector organizations reach out to win the attention and support of community members. |

| 2:00-3:00 PM | Sound Bites 101 Featured speaker: Roberta Perry, communication workshop trainer At this point in the conference, we know what communities value. We know how other organizations garner community support. And we know what the library has to offer. In 25 words or less, how can we bring all that information together to make the library's case most effectively? Participants will practice "on the spot" responses to tough questions--from the media, elected officials, and others-- about the value of investing in the library. |
