California's Family Place Library Grant Program 2010-2011

This webinar is part of the California State Library's Family Place Library Program.

Description

The California State Library is pleased to announce that a Family Place Webinar will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 10:00-11:15 a.m. Under the California's Family Place Library Grant Program, the State Library will support attendance of an administrator and a librarian at a three-day Family Place Training Institute in Los Angeles, September 27-30, 2010. Training fees, hotel accommodations, and meals will be covered, but travel expenses will be the responsibility of the attendees. In addition, the libraries that are selected to attend the Training Institute will be eligible to apply for an LSTA Implementation Grant for up to $15,000 to establish family/early childhood space in the children's services area. These implementations may include toys, collections, furnishings, etc. that will be conducive to interaction between young children, parents, and caregivers.

Up to 13 awards will be granted in 2010-2011. Information about the Family Place Grant Program and application materials will be outlined in the webinar, and application materials and guidelines may be found on the State Library's website following the webinar. Participation in the webinar is required for all prospective applicants.

The deadline for receipt of applications for the Training Institute is Friday, June 25, 2010 (4:00 p.m.).

NOTE: California Public Library Jurisdictions that received a Family Place Grant in 2009-2010 are not eligible to apply.
