Introduction to California's Family Place Library Program

This webinar is part of the California State Library's Family Place Library Program.

Description

The California State Library is pleased to announce a new statewide initiative for young children, families, and caregivers. Under the 2009-2010 California's Family Place Library Program, the State Library will provide up to thirteen awards to public libraries and will support attendance of an administrator and a librarian at a three day Training Institute in Los Angeles, November 17-19, 2009. Training fees, hotel accommodations and meals will be provided by the State Library but travel expenses will be the responsibility of the attendees. In addition, those libraries that participate will be eligible to apply for an LSTA Implementation Grant for up to $15,000 to establish a family/early childhood space in the children's services area. These implementations may include, toys, collections, furnishings, etc. that will be conducive to interaction between young children, parents and caregivers.

Family Place is a national model that was developed by the Middle Country Public Library in Long Island and staff from the library will provide a visual experience of the Family Place Library Program in Middle Country.
