Sarah Flowers
Sarah Flowers is president of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), the fourth-largest division of the American Library Association. She has worked in California public libraries since 1992, as a young adult librarian, supervisor of adult and teen services, community librarian, and, until she retired in 2009, as deputy county librarian for the Santa Clara County Library. She has been active in YALSA since 1996, serving on numerous committees, including the 2004 Michael L. Printz Award committee, and on its Board of Directors.
She is the past editor-in-chief of Young Adult Library Services, YALSA’s quarterly journal, and is the author of Young Adults Deserve the Best: YALSA’s Competencies in Action (ALA Editions, 2011), and Evaluating Teen Services and Programs (Neal-Schuman, 2012).
