Looking for Work on the Web
Before the Internet, the savvy job seeker spent more time pounding the pavement than searching for information. Now every job seeker, no matter what the occupation or industry, needs to be as familiar and comfortable with online information as with the telephone. The more librarians know about the job search, electronic resources, and job search strategies, the more we will be able to support and direct those in our communities as they look for the best jobs. From writing an electronic resume to negotiating a salary, from targeting an industry to making contact with a local employer, a wealth of practical, current information is now available to every job seeker. In addition to learning specific job search techniques, you will also learn how to support your clients, reducing their stress and enhancing their success.
