Using the Internet with the K-12
Community
The Web offers a wealth of information for kids and teens for both work and play with new sites appearing regularly. Though it's virtually impossible to keep up on all the Web's K12 resources, you can come to this workshop and get up-to-date. Highlights of the day include:
- A tour of top Web sites for children and teens
- Search strategies and search sites geared to youth services
- Learning about the common helper applications used by popular sites
- Evaluating kids' sites and how to help kids evaluate sites
- Discussion of Internet-related library programming
Who Should Attend: Library staff who work with the Internet in any California library.
Prerequisites: This
workshop is NOT for beginners. Those
attending should be:
- comfortable using a mouse
- able to navigate the Web using URLs, browser menus, and toolbars
- familiar with basic Web terminology
