Laura Lent
Laura Lent is the Adult Collections Coordinator for the San Francisco Public Library. Her twelve-year stint at SFPL has included five years of branch reference and four years as Exhibitions and Programming Manager.
Before a driving need to know more about finding things out drew her to library school, she worked for seven years as the administrative coordinator and newsletter editor for the San Francisco-based Center for Investigative Reporting. She contributed research to stories and books including Global Dumping Ground: The International Traffic in Hazardous Waste, and Paper Trails: A Guide to Public Records in California, and after getting her MLS combined her journalism and library experience to teach classes in research for journalists.
Laura was a non-fiction judge for the 2001 Kiriyama Pacific Rim Book Prize, and she will chair the 2002 Kiriyama Prize fiction panel. She is a member of the Collection Development Committee of the Public Library Association, and is president of a documentary film nonprofit, Pelican Pictures.
