Sarah Houghton-Jan

Sarah Houghton-Jan is the Digital Futures Manager for the San José Public Library in the heart of Silicon Valley. Sarah also writes daily for her award-winning blog about library technology, Librarian In Black. She received her MLIS from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and a MA in Irish Literature from Washington State University. Sarah serves on LITA’s Top Technology Trends Committee and Program Planning Committee. She has presented and trained internationally for libraries and other organizations on the intersection of libraries and technology, training techniques, and other topics. Sarah has been published widely in both library and technology publications and also authored book-length piece for ALA's Library Technology Reports, entitled Technology Competencies and Training for Libraries. She is currently working on a book on technology training techniques for libraries.

Sarah has taught 51 classes from 2002 through 2010.
