...or those needing a brush-up here or there.
We've just added the links to a couple of very good online tutorials to our How-To Guides page.
Learn the Internet
The tutorial for Basic Browsing covers: "Understanding your web browser, including menus, toolbars, web addresses, getting around on web pages, bookmarks, printing, and help for common problems." The Intermediate Browsing tutorial covers: "navigating the Web, using complex web sites, and customizing your browser settings." The tutorials are simply written, well-illustrated, and even offer animated and audio explanations ("Watch Sandy show you how"). From AARP, formerly the American Association for Retired Persons.
This collection of Internet Tutorials maintained by librarian Laura Cohen at SUNY Albany is a great place for self-directed reference staff to get some free education. With titles such as: Understanding the World Wide Web, Checklist of Internet Research Tips, Conducting Research on the Internet, Evaluating Internet Resources, The Deep (Invisible) Web, Second Generation Searching on the Web, and a dozen others -- there's something for everyone to learn.
