Sarah Houghton-Jan is the Assistant Director for the San Rafael Public Library. Sarah writes daily for her award-winning blog about library technology, Librarian In Black. In 2010 Sarah published her first book, Technology Training in Libraries. She received her MLIS from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and a MA in Irish Literature from Washington State University. Sarah has been active in ALA, LITA, PLA, the ALA Learning Roundtable, and CLA. She has presented and trained internationally on the intersection of libraries and technology, training techniques, and other topics. Sarah often writes for library and technology journals and magazines, is a contributing author for the ALA Learning Blog and is the author of ALA's Library Technology Report: Technology Competencies and Training for Libraries. She lives in northern California with her husband, who is also a librarian.
