Workshop Description: This all-day workshop will provide a practical, low cost approach to desktop publishing. The class is geared toward beginning participants who are anxious to learn the basic principles and methods of creating useful and effective informational materials. We will discuss the publishing tools available in Microsoft Word, methods for controlling layout, and graphics formatting. The majority of the class will be hands-on experience creating a variety of documents. Participants will come away with the resources they need to create professional looking printed materials, as well as practical tips that can be applied immediately to all Word documents.

Who Should Attend: Anyone in a California library with an interest in desktop publishing, particularly those who create printed materials for their libraries.
Prerequisites: Experience with Microsoft Word including using toolbar buttons, formatting text, clicking and dragging objects, and copy and pasting text.
