If you're considering an Internet content filter, or you are using one already, it is important to understand how the technology works. A common misunderstanding is that filters are like a light switch, which is either "on" or "off." In fact, filters are much more like dimmers. You, as Administrator, can choose to block many categories or just block one or two.
This webcast looks at the content categories used by many filter companies, discusses how these companies do their "cataloging," and considers why you should care about these technical details.
