Sarah Flowers has worked in California public libraries for nearly 30 years, and retired as Deputy County Librarian of the Santa Clara County Library. She was a member of the top 40 distinguished alumni of the San Jose State School of Library and Information Science, and one of the first Library Journal “Movers and Shakers.” She is the author of numerous articles and reviews for library journals, as well as the author of Young Adults Deserve the Best: YALSA’s Competencies in Action (ALA, 2011), Evaluating Teen Services and Programs (ALA/Neal-Schuman, 2012), and Crash Course in Young Adult Services (Libraries Unlimited, 2017). She has been active in ALA and YALSA (the Young Adult Library Services Association, a division of ALA) for many years, and was the 2011-12 President of YALSA.
